Dazed and Confused Filming Locations Part 2
I'll warn you right off the top that this filming locations video is not shot in 4K and stabilized and looking all fancy. A lot of the footage dates to 2004, so don't expect high def. But for anyone fascinated with this film and the locations, you're in for a treat. Having footage like this that dates back to the pre-YouTube days is pretty rare. If you were shooting filming locations back then, it was because you loved the movie and wanted your own personal record of the locations, and/or wanted to show it to your friends.
There's some rare stuff in the video that you won't find in most other location vids, like the inside of the "high school" with the water fountain and Uncle Sam (minus the bloodshot eyes done for the movie, of course). Also, you'll see the Emporium before they stuck the art deco "flying buttresses" on it that you would find today, and even more importantly, interior shots through the glass doors that clearly show beyond a doubt that the Emporium interiors were filmed right there in the building used for the exteriors, not at any other location (you can find people on the internet claiming that the Emporium interiors were shot down the road at a different location).
You will also see the Centennial Liquor store from the film, across from the Emporium, which no longer exists (although I can vouch that, at least in July 2019, there was another Centennial at Guadalupe St and W 30th St with the same classic sign as the store in the film). This also includes some interior shots through the Centennial glass windows, very rare!
I highly suggest checking out this excellent video from Sean Clark, enjoy:
