The definitive Dazed book and McConaughey's memoir

Man there is a lot going on in the Dazed universe in 2020.  First Melissa Maerz's definitive Dazed book was announced earlier in the year (my post on it is here), then McConaughey's book is announced, then the virtual reunion happens.

Matthew's book was just released, and Melissa's comes out next month, and today we have some tidbits promoting both.  I'll start with the fact that Melissa and Richard Linklater will be hosting a Zoom conversation in conjunction with the Austin Film Society on November 18, 2020.  You can get a ticket here:  https://www.austinfilm.org/event/the-oral-history-of-dazed-and-confused-richard-linklater-in-conversation-with-melissa-maerz/.  Hosted by Andy Greenwald, it will be well worth the $10 ticket and helps support the Austin Film Society.

A reminder that you can pre-order Melissa's book from anywhere and everywhere you could buy a book, but it'd be a lot cooler if you bought it from an Austin bookstore, like BookPeople - here's the link to order from them:  https://www.bookpeople.com/book/9780062908506

Now on to Wooderson news.  McConaughey's appearance on the Howard Stern, in which he let loose a nice piece of trivia about Dazed.  Check it out:

So yeah, the one time in the movie that he was toking for real was the 3rd take getting in the car at the end of the beer bust, and the result was the truly awesome "Hey, watch the leather, man" line.  I've always praised Matthew's acting in that scene as the best drunk/high acting ever, but I guess I can't say that anymore since he had some help from Slater, ha ha!  Here's the scene to refresh your memory, always worth watching:

As he says in the Stern clip, it's one of his favorite lines and you can read about how he slipped it in to True Detective on HBO from my post here

I'm still working on Part IV of my Reunion review/recap, and hope to have it up shortly.  Thanks for reading!
